Alpha Discussion: Technology- What is Healthy Usage? (San Francisco)

Alpha is hosting a round table discussion covering the addiction to technology for 20 executives in the Bay Area. The round table discussion will be led by Tim Kendall, the CEO of Moment, and will focus on the following topics:

  • State of the problem -- Technology overuse is linked with depression, anxiety and reduced psychological well-being. The general population underestimates how much time they spend on their phone by 50%; 67% of adults agree they would benefit from spending less time on their phones but only 25% have been able to do so.

  • State of the solution -- Flip phones, phone time-outs, network blockers, and various apps that help encourage more balanced use. However, current solution set shows limited sustainability. What will ultimately work, if anything?

  • Families - Number one concern among parents of teenagers is "technology overuse." More so than bullying, drugs, alcohol and general safety. What is the solution for families?
